Poverty does not exist because of one or two issues. It's everything not going right all at the same time, it's the system not helping and it's enduring trauma. We must not be tempted to focus on one or two solutions. We must remain focused on the whole picture. When we do that, we come to understand that the barriers to success are many, and we need to understand all of the issues and connections between them. I also strongly support programs that create relationship, because human relationships have the power to transform - and not just for the person in poverty. They reality is that we have so much to learn from the people we are attempting to help. We must work from within these communities which are already very strong if we pay attention.
