Rochester, NY - ROCitizen has announced its endorsement of Mary Lupien (D) for Rochester City Council in the East District.
Lupien, a community activist and teacher in the Rochester City School District, has consistently prioritized the needs of rent-burdened tenants, immigrants, youth, and others who have historically been denied a meaningful voice in the political process.
She is running to ensure stable, affordable housing for residents, improved public transportation, and accountability for law enforcement.
“Mary understands that a thriving Rochester is possible when we tap into our connectivity—whether it’s on walkable and bikeable streets or by outstanding public transportation. She knows that accountability matters when building a connected community, and will work toward establishing an independent, community-led police accountability board,” said Carrie Gilroy, Co-Director of ROCitizen. “Mary Lupien continues to be a strong, progressive voice in her community, and will play a vital role in shaping a sustainable and equitable Rochester when elected to City Council.”
“It's deeply meaningful for me to receive ROCitizen's endorsement for Rochester City Council as I share their passion for creating a more progressive and equitable community here in Rochester,” said Mary Lupien, candidate for Rochester City Council.
